Four provinces and regions dominate, with Shanxi having the highest output
In 2022, the output of 14 large coal bases in China accounted for 96.6% of the national total. The coal output of eight provinces and regions, including Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Guizhou, Henan, Shandong, and Anhui, accounted for 89.7% of the national total. Among them, the raw coal output of the three provinces of Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia accounted for 71.5% of the national total, and the three provinces and regions shipped out about 1.73 billion tons of coal.

The combined output of Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Xinjiang accounts for nearly 81% of the national total. The raw coal output of large-scale enterprises reached 1.31 billion tons, 750 million tons, 1.17 billion tons, and 410 million tons respectively.
