A long journey, pushing the old and bringing forth the new
On July 14, Wang Jian, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, stated at the 2023 China Lead-Zinc Market Symposium: China's lead-zinc industry has made significant progress in green development, elimination of backward production capacity, environmental protection, technological and equipment innovation, international cooperation, and efficient synergistic processing of the industrial chain, providing a new model of multi-industry coupled and synergistic green development for the whole society's solid waste resource utilization. However, there is still a gap between China and the world's leading countries in terms of resource security, ecological governance, technological innovation, and industrial agglomeration, and the tasks of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality are arduous and long. He put forward three suggestions for the high-quality development of the lead-zinc industry:
01 Ensure Safety, Strengthen Reserves
First, attach importance to resource security and supply safety, strengthen domestic mine exploration and resource reserves, and improve the ability of independent raw material supply.
03 Focus on Innovation, Improve Level
Third, attach importance to technological innovation and green development. Continuously improve the green, digital, and intelligent level of the lead-zinc industry, and enhance the endogenous driving force and risk resistance of enterprises.
